Dylan's Birthday

Today is Dylan's FIRST Birthday. I can't believe it's been a year, and oh what a year it's been too. Lots of ups and downs and crazy things happening. We are having his party tomorrow night so nothing too exciting happened on his actual Birthday today. I will be posting pictures of the party in a few days!
Last night Dave and I were reminiscing on our experience a year ago and how long the process was for me and how great it was when 12:33 pm on April 28Th 2010 came. My sweet Dylan, I remember when you peed on the nurse as she was cleaning you off and how blond your hair was when I first laid my eyes on you. ( I was in total shock, totally expecting a brown haired child.) I especially remember holding you so close to me for the first time skin to skin and you talking to me. You arched your little head back and cried out and I started to hum and you settled right down. I instantly loved you Dylan and I love you more and more everyday. You've accomplished SO much and am proud to have you as my baby boy. I Love you through and through, yesterday, today and tomorrow too. :)

We have a Walking Child!...(well at the beginning stages at least)

Easter

We had a nice Easter this year. We went to church and then had dinner over at my parents' house. Grandma Elwood Easter Bunny spoiled Dylan with lots of little things and a colorful little caterpillar which is super cute and he loves it!

April Crafting, brings May Relaxing

Whenever I get in the mood to craft it doesn't last very long, so I always try and do everything possible within a couple weeks before I lose my energy. Here is what I've been up to...

I made this wreath which I love. It makes me feel like spring time!

Then I made these blocks, which turned out cuter than I was anticipating.

And then since I have a sewing machine that I use less often then I would hope too, I busted out a carseat cover and diaper/wipey case for my sis in law to use! Definitely 2 things I can't live without when I have a baby.

Spring Family Fun!

We planned on taking Dylan to baby animal days last weekend, but it stormed big time. So today they held it again and it sprinkled rain a little, but overall not too shabby. I'm so glad we went, Dylan doesn't get out of the house much (I don't get out of the house much), so he was really into the animals and loved it! Definitely a memory that will stick with me for a long time. :) Later on we took him to the park to swing since he loves that too, and we also tried out grass with him again....not his favorite thing. Here's moments of our day-

A sneak peak....

I am busting out some things for my new niece...actually for her mommy to use. But I wish I had a baby girl to make lots of cute things for! I would be doing 50 times as much sewing as I do now. I'm very indecisive and change what I like alot, so it might be hard having a little girl too, I just love everything cute!!!

I will post what I made after I give it to my sis in law. ;)

Training. Girly Girl. Seamstress.

I have been training for a 5k for the Smithfield Health Days. It's in 4 weeks! Aaaaahhhh. Let's start over. I have been running here and there but mostly walking to train to run the 5k. I had a really hard week with Dylan being sick and not being able to train, so I had to start over again. Did you know that it takes 1 week for your body to lose it's aerobic stamina that you've been trying to build up. And 1 month for your body to lose it's muscle strength you've been lifting weights so long for?? And to add to the lack of training, my lower back/hip area keeps getting really horrificly sharp pains when I move sometimes. Like the pain that makes you stop and want to just tip over onto the floor. Wish me luck! Oh yeah, and the list of busy April....you can add the 5k training to the list as well.

You wouldn't think so by looking at me these days, with an almost 1 year old taking up most of my time. But I am quite the girly girl when I can be. My mother always tells the story of how I wouldn't go to school without a dress on and my hair curled when I was little. I always played dress up and wanted to wear make-up and have my nails painted too. Somethings never change. When I was a single girl with lots more time on my hands I always got my nails and hair done, make-up was a must, tanning at least once a week, and cute clothes, purses, and shoes a must. There's something about making yourself look good that gives you all the confidence in the world. I'm working back up to doing all of those things to help re-build the self-esteem I once had. So don't hate the girly girl, she's just trying to be a more confident girl. :)

Sewing. I'm not a super fabulous seamstress, I'm a strait line sew two pieces of fabric together kind of girl. One day I will learn more about my sewing machine! But I love to sew and make baby stuff or pillows for my bed and couches. I also love going to the fabric store and finding cute fabric, it's so hard to pick out what you want, because they always have the cutest fabric (JoAnn's that is). I can't wait to have baby #2 and be able to make lots of cute stuff!!! (I'm not announcing anything, not for a couple years anyway.)

So there's a little about me. Hope you learned something new!

Our very busy but very Wonderful weekend!

I will first start off with Saturday. Dave's 28th Birthday! Yep that's right, just 2 more years and he will be the big 3-0. He worked from 7-1 and Dylan and I surprised him with birthday balloons and some Junior Mints! When he got home we just hung out together. (which doesn't happen very often) My parents took him out to eat at Texas Roadhouse and I talked him into sitting on the Birthday saddle, and Dylan freaked out. It was a little too much action! Later on we had his brothers and their wives over for some cake and ice cream! Dave recieved many wonderful gifts and is so thankful for such great family!

Can you see just how excited Dave was to sit on the Birthday Saddle??? lol.

Then Sunday we were able to go down to see our new little niece Addison! She is in the NICU so Dave and I had to go in one at a time and see her. I was able to hold her and attempt to feed her. (she was a sleepy baby, she just wants to grow so she can go home with mommy and daddy). It's just amazing the spirit that you feel when you hold a newborn. They are not far from God, I mean, they just left him right? She was so tiny and I can't believe Dylan used to be as little as her when we brought him home. :) And Sarah and Brian are the happiest I have ever seen them, we are so happy for them. Also on our trip down we were able to see Dave's cousin's baby get blessed. I just adore his cousins, they are so fun to talk to, very entertaining. ;)

And to vent about my very overwhelming and busy month here is what has happened and will be happening this month!

April 2nd- New niece born- Surprise! We adopted a baby!-Sarah and Brian

April 8th- SOAR for USU payment due and Financial aide all ready for School.

April 9th- Dave's Birthday/Wedding Shower for cousin Natalie

April 10th- See niece Addison/Kate's baby blessing

April 23rd- Possible baby shower for Sarah? (Waiting on Mother in law to return from trip. So possibly planning for shower April 11th-22nd)

April 27th- Preparation for Relief Society Big Shabang in a couple of weeks.

April 28th- Dylan's First Birthday!

April 29th- Dylan's Party!

April 30th- Dave's mom's Birthday.

May 2nd- Our 3rd Anniversary.

And the list goes on throughout May as well! I know that seems like not very much, but those are the more major/important family/church stuff, besides taking care of my child 25 hours a day while my husband is gone for 23 hours a day!

We are officially an Aunt and Uncle! (and cousin)

Dave's older sister Sarah with her husband Brian adopted a baby girl! It went so fast too, it was only a couple of weeks ago that they even told us that they were starting the adoption process....even though they started back awhile ago....but the birth mom had the baby a month or so early and they gave us the news!! They have chosen on the name Addison Sophia. So cute right!? She was born on April 2nd. Another April birthday to add to the Elwood family!! We are happy for Dylan as well to be able to have a little friend when family gets together. We are just so thrilled to have another baby in the family and hear the joy that she already has brought Sarah and Brian. We will get to meet her in the NICU on Sunday...hopefully...and see Dave's cousin's baby Kate get blessed! Double baby loves this weekend, yipee!!
