This post is in memory of Norman Elwood who died on August 17, 2009. I just wanted to take a minute to reminisce on all the wonderful memories that I shared with my Grandpa. I won't write them all because that would take a while, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am for the time that I got to spend with him here on the Earth. I remember the times that we would go fishing with just the boys, and grandpa was there to encourage/tease me while I was reeling in the fish. Also, the times that we went hunting and I got to ride in the back of the truck when I was little. Even all the trips up to Idaho to help with one project or another, but we were always rewarded with a bunch of jerky, a can of pop, and an occasional 4-wheeler ride. Lots of good memories! Well, I love you Grandpa and I'll miss you but I know that we'll see you again.-Dave
I just wanted to add on to this post. Grandpa Elwood was a tease and charmer, I met him for the first time after a few months of dating Dave. He had recently had a stroke and was bed ridden. You would think that someone would be down on themselves for that position they were in...but not Grandpa. He was always telling jokes and offering us jerky, and all sorts of little goodies. And he always wanted a hug when I left, (he would even slip in a little kiss on the cheek). I grew to love him even though I didn't know him that well, and he made me feel apart of the Elwood family. While at his funeral I learned alot about him, and I also learned that Dave is alot like him. I always knew Dave and Grandpa were close, I could tell how much Dave loved him. Now I know why. I will miss visiting him, but I'll be glad when I can see him again. -Angie
