"Family" isn't always by blood... It is the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you as you are... The ones who would do anything to see your smile. :)

General Conference Fall 2011

Wowzer! What an AMAZING last couple of weeks! Conference felt a little different this time around, probably because I felt like at the Relief Society Meeting and all Conference sessions there was most definitely something that pertained to my life, and the struggles I have had these past couple of years. On a side note, did anyone else watch the news Saturday at 6p.m. about how President Monson had a security guard with him at all times, even right there next to him at the pulpit? And he was an hour late getting to the morning session on Saturday? Maybe this is normal and I just never knew it, but the security guard thing pretty much scared the living daylights out of me. I mean, I know President Monson had someone stalking him awhile ago, but I didn't know that these extreme measures needed to be taken. It made me think of the Prophet Joseph Smith and all of the mobs and people who were out to get him. It just makes me realize even more how terrible the world is becoming, and how much closer the Second Coming is. I hope he and his family are kept safe, and free from anymore stalkers.
With all of the trials that Dave and I have been facing lately, Conference is exactly what we needed to lift our spirits. We may not have any money, literally we have no money, but we have the Gospel and each other, and that's all that truly matters. :)

Family Pics!

The girl who did our pictures is Erica Naegle. She has been a friend of mine since High School. She is graduating this upcoming spring in photography, let me know if you need family pictures done and I can get you her info! :)

The Mushroom Man.

Do you know the mushroom man, the mushroom man, the mushroom man...
Dylan had his first ER visit last night. While playing out in the yard at around 6 p.m. Dylan decided to try out a yard mushroom. Dave was mowing the lawn and I was inside writing a paper, and went out to check on them and that's when I caught him munching the edges of a white mushroom. I grabbed it from Dylan and threw it out into the dirt and Dave called poison control. They explained what the bad mushrooms looked like (which is white all over and white gills underneath the head), so we searched for the mushroom I threw and yup, it was exactly as they had described. So we called poison control back and they told us to email them pictures just to be sure. Sure enough, we got a call back and were told to take him to the ER. Poison control sent a mushroom expert to the hospital and he took it home to check it under his microscope, nobody knew this man's name so he was referred to as "The Mushroom Man" during the hospital stay. It was the one thing that was able to lighten the mood of the incident.
Dylan didn't show any signs of poisoning but they had him drink some "charcoal" drink to absorb the toxins and they I.V.'d him, which was the worst part, but he was watched overnight and was released this morning. Thank goodness he wasn't affected by it. The mushroom man will be coming by to inspect our mushrooms, he said he was interested in them. lol.
Yes, I know the mushroom man, the mushroom man, the mushroom man.

Goodbye Summer.

Summer has come and gone again. Every year it seems to go by faster too! It was alot of fun having a toddler this summer. He was able to drag mom out of the house multiple times a day. Our family had alot more picnics at the parks and fun in the sun!

One of Dylan's favorite toys this summer was a stomp rocket.
It was a great teether as well...
The garden was also alot of fun. He knew right where the strawberries were and especially loved the tomatoes! He would pick and eat the veggies right out of it!

9/11/11

10 Years. Wow! I remember where I was and what I was doing when the Twin Towers were hit in New York. I was a sophomore in high school and I was getting ready for school over at my friend Emily's house. It was homecoming week and I believe it was "80's Day". We were dressing up as ridiculously 80's as possible, Emily's mom called us into the kitchen to see what was going on, on the news. I remember looking as the first tower was in smoke and I was like- what show is this? or what movie? and then the reporters came on and then I saw the second plane hit the second tower. I was in shock, not knowing what on earth just happened. I headed to school and while in every class, we watched the news on the t.v.'s in the classrooms. It was a long day, and I wished I could've just gone home. I wasn't at the age where watching the same thing for 6 hours was amusing, the only thing on my mind was- where is the cute boy that is in my 2nd hour class? Ya know, a teenage mind...Yet as I've grown older and wiser, I realize how huge that event was in my own history. I can't imagine what the victims in the buildings and the heroes who rescued and attempted to rescue those involved were thinking and feeling. I think my heart would've stopped and I would've been in total shock. I've seen many documentaries or shows about 9/11, but there's no way to even know what it truly was like. God Bless America, and Bless the families who are still mourning their loss of family and friends this day.

16 Months!

I am getting way behind on Dylan's updates! He turned 16 months on August 28th. He has been doing tons of new things within this past month:

-He loves to point at pictures in books and have us tell him what they are, over and over again.
-When we ask him questions he replies with an exciting "ya!"
-He has started becoming more fussy and tantrums have begun...
-He will randomly say words out of nowhere, but never says them again, like- "Jesus", "my ducky", and "keys".
-He would live outside if he could.
-He has figured out that his hands do fit into his diaper, and that he can also take off his diaper...
-He loves to climb on us while we are laying down and play horsey.
-He loves to help. (which will be nice when he gets a younger sibling.)
-He loves to be tickled and play with mommy and daddy.
-He loves the playground- swings, slides, animals he can ride and sand piles.
-He has broken in some molers. He now has 10 teeth and counting.
-He knows where his belly, belly button, and hair is.
-He can make the sound of a cat, cow, dog, and any type of motorized toy.

Twilight

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would have a post on my blog with the name of that book/movie. I remember how crazy all the women in the world were about these books/movies. I am most definitely a non-fiction book/movie person. I feel like I'm wasting my time when it comes to fiction. I'd rather read real experiences and learn from people, and use what I learn and put it to use in my life instead. I usually lean more towards church stuff too. I've read tons of church books and a few non-fiction books. I figured, why not give Twilight a try, and I can see if it even interests me. So I watched movie #1 and it was interesting, especially the pasty faces and red lips. ha ha. That's so attractive....not. I think why most women are so attracted to "Edward" is the fact that he treats "Bella" so well. That's all a girl wants is a man who puts her first, will protect her, respect her, and love her. And the only reason I am now on the 3rd movie is because they leave the ends of the movies wide open. So you have to watch and see what is happening next. I don't care about all of the stuff in the middle, I just want to know if "Bella" is going to become a vampire. That's all I care. So if you see me in line for movie #4...oh wait, you won't be seeing me in line, I think I can wait until it comes out on redbox, I don't have obsessions, I have opinions. ha ha. I think all my school work is making me crazier. I hope I don't have nightmares about vampires tonight. ;)
